Taylor
Taylor Swift, the rarest pop sensation, is one who managed to move over from country music to mainstream pop culture, becoming an icon of the pop world. She also conquered the entire globe in the process. Swift shed her roots in the country genre like a second skin, and revealed that she had the best pop sensibility of the time. Swift was the only singer/songwriter who knew how to follow the zeitgeist of popular music when she went on tour. These skills were evident on her earliest hits especially the neo-tribute Tim McGraw but her second album, 2008's Fearless showcased a songwriter discovering who she was and in the process, finding a mass audience. Fearless was a huge success worldwide and not just in North America (where it was certified with six platinum awards for Top Ten Hits Love Story and "You Belong with Me") however, in Canada, Australia and the U.K. as well as other nations. Swift's Speak Now album released two years ago was a continuation of her earlier success, and catapulted the singer into superstardom. With the three albums that followed (Reputation 2017, 1989 2014, and Red 2012) Red 2012 1989 2014, and Reputation 2017. her success only grew. It was a clear sign she had moved to a new pop world that she could be part of. While she reduced her work with folklore and Evermore albums in the year 2020, she was still leading the way in pop music.
